This one was gotten near the river at the Paradise Flumes (near Paradise, CA). It just looked like a good subject and I made it good by adjusting the camera settings just right so that it wouldn't be overexposed. I tend to worry too much about overexposure and underexpose an image, and then later find out that as I try to lighten it in software, there is more noise than necessary due to the lack of a certain amount of light hitting the sensor. This one doesn't suffer too much from noise after lightening it and adding a diffusion filter through software, and to me it looks just right for that subject, except that I didn't lighten it up a bit like I did for another version. Some pictures deserve to have a more original copy where they aren't tainted by editing, but then on the other hand they look better with the edit. It's kind of like the story of how a person's life is changed, if you can imagine that. Sometimes you want to see what a person was like before you knew them, and sometimes you just want to see the nice parts, but both are reasonable.
